Join us at the Berry 4th Tacular Festival! The event is celebrating this season's summer Berry harvest, urban agriculture, and food access in the tradition of rural berry festivals across the country. Hosted at Plants Alive!, we will have a full day of fun contests, classes, games, and of course, lots of berries. Local vendors and community members will be there too, and they're listed here as more people sign up so you can check out the awesome things they make and do!

Door prizes will be given out throughout the day and charity raffle tickets- raffle will be done at the end of the event (~2:45-3 PM)
Events
10:00 AM - Opening remarks by Niraj Ray of Cultivate the City and Jeff k, intro to vendors & welcome. First, 25 attendees will get a plant to add to their garden! Let the door prizes begin!
--> Charity Raffle opens: half of the proceeds will be donated to charity
11:00 AM -Grow your own Microgreen class. Big on nutrition and flavor, microgreens can be expensive to purchase. But they can also be grown cost-effectively at home, in a tiny space, and with simple supplies. This class is sold separately- You can purchase tickets through this link.
12:00 PM- Mixology 101. Celebrate Berry Fest with Charismatic Creations and Cultivate the City with a fun hands-on Mixology 101 class! Attendees will be learning the art of Mixology and crafting 2 cocktails using fresh fruits and ingredients! Particpants also have the option to craft mocktails. Spaces are limited! 1:00 PM - Kokedama workshop. This class is sold separately. You can purchase tickets through this link.
--> Berry name guessing contest. First place winner gets a $25 Cultivate the City gift card, second place gets a $10 gift card, and third place gets a $5 gift card.
2:00 PM -Ethnic Home Gardening Workshop. This workshop showcases some unique crops that you can grow right here in DC, including (but not limited to): Curry Tree, Moringa, Bitter Melon, Valore Beans, Holy Basil (Tulsi), Passionfruit, Papalo, Ginger, Turmeric, Sugar Cane, Bhut Jolokia (Ghost Peppers) and much more! 2:30 PM - Pet costume contest!
