We had so much fun at our last swap that it's time to plan another!
Join us at H St Farms (on the rooftop of 910 Bladensburg RD. NE) on Sunday, June 27th, 2021 for Cultivate the City’s third seed and plant swap event of 2021! As things are opening back up, we’re excited to expand the tickets available and host an expanded swap. The event is free, but you are welcome to make a donation- all proceeds from ticket donations will go to FONA, Friends of the National Arboretum to support their garden education programming.
We’ll have vendors for the event, selling ceramic planters, laser-cut trellises, plant decor, 3d printed pots, pour paint and jewelry, painted pots, terrariums, propagating tubes, and all sorts of other great wares.
With the change in format, we won’t be grouping the swaps by the type of plant or swap. We ask that people only sign up for one section and not multiple.
The day’s schedule will look like this:
12:00-12:45pm - Plant Swap 1
1:00-1:45pm - Plant Swap 2
1:00- 2:00pm- Indoor and container gardening class
2:00pm-2:45pm- Plant swap 3
How does a plant swap work?
- Each person brings plants they would like to trade or give away. You may bring cuttings, seeds, propagations, food plants, house plants, garden plants, hanging plants, plants in kokodame, whatever you like.- Each person gets a tablespace to set up their plants and should label them with their name and what the plant is. - Throughout the hour, you may mingle and move through the plant swap, and if you see a plant you like, find the owner, and see if you can make a trade!
Rules:- Social Distancing protocols: Masks must be worn at all times and we require everybody to stay 6 feet apart. We will be limiting the number of people allowed on the roof at one time to ensure we can keep up with social distancing protocols.- Plant Labeling: Please label all plants with your name (so interested traders can find you!), and the name of the plant for trade to facilitate easy hands-free trading!
You can see all of Cultivate the Cities classes here (all classes here) Please sign up for these classes on Eventbrite. The number of participants is limited so make sure you sign up as soon as possible.
